At the One NHS Finance launch event in September 2021, the ambitions of the National Finance Academy were set out.
The National Finance Academy aims to ensure there is an inclusive, comprehensive, and structured training and development offer for all staff across England and much of its work will be delivered through partnerships with others and supported by Regional Finance Academies. It will be a core part of every Finance Director and Chief Finance Officer’s role to drive this forward and ICSs will be encouraged to understand that staff development is a priority.
The Eastern Finance Academy Board is chaired by Jeff Buggle, East of England Regional Director of Finance, and will be responsible for developing locally tailored programmes and initiatives to ensure the regional delivery of the NHS Finance Development strategy, set by the NHS Finance Leadership Council.
The vision of the Eastern Finance Academy is to: ‘Develop and support the delivery of an excellent and diverse education, training and talent management programme for NHS Finance teams in the Eastern region, which is fair and accessible to all.’
The East of England Skills Development Network (SDN) and the HFMA Eastern Branch will work with the Academy to develop and provide a core finance curriculum to ensure access to the technical skills, personal competencies and behavioural characteristics needed at the different stages in people’s careers.
